“This free, family-friendly celebration will provide a memorable evening for Torontonians and visitors alike,” said Mayor John Tory. “Nathan Phillips Square is the best place in the city to ring in 2019.”
The alcohol-free celebration will feature DJ skating parties sponsored by Tim Hortons with DJ Money Jane and DJ MelBoogie. Performances by critically acclaimed rapper, producer and poet Cadence Weapon and R&B/Neo-Soul-culture artist LIZA. Headlining the celebration will be co-founder and former member of “A Tribe Called Red”, DJ NDN, spinning his signature sound, a mix of powwow-step and hip hop. The event will culminate with the countdown to the new year followed by a spectacular fireworks display at midnight.
