India’s Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today congratulated Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on winning elections in Canada.

“Congratulations Justin Trudeau! India and Canada are connected by shared values and a strong commitment to democracy as well as plurality. Looking forward to working together to further strengthen bilateral relations”, he said.

Markham Mayor Frank Scarpetti also extended his congratulations in a statement this morning. “On behalf of Members of Council and the City of Markham, I would like to offer our sincere congratulations to Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau and his team on their re-election. I also want to congratulate all the other party leaders and their candidates on hard fought campaigns.  I look forward to continued collaborations with the federal government as we address the issues important to Markham residents.”
