World’s First Linear Indian Music Channel to Launch As Part of Jungo TV and Arts and Artistes Partnership
WAAH!!, the world’s first linear Indian music channel, is set to launch thanks to a new partnership between Jungo TV, an LA-based, leading international entertainment distribution network, and Art and Artistes, a multimedia Indian music company specializing in conceiving, producing, and marketing Indian music content across mass media platforms.
WAAH!! will be a 24/7 digital ad-supported channel featuring live studio performances and live concerts by various iconic Indian musicians, recordings and music videos from Arts and Artistes expansive library spanning over twenty years and thousands of hours of music. Art and Artistes has produced more than 500 live concerts worldwide and 35 television programs for leading TV channels in India, including Star, Sony, and Zee, as well as global TV networks.
“We are proud to join forces with AAA and work together to launch their global digital channel,” said George Chung, CEO and co-founder of Jungo TV. “AAA is a world-renowned multimedia production house with a worldwide following that helps create a natural partnership as both companies have deep respect for and commitment to creativity, diversity, and passion for the artists creating the music. We look to bring to life a shared vision of this exciting channel to be appreciated and loved by millions of Indian music fans around the world.”
The channel will feature traditional Indian music, including regional folk music, semi-classical genres, classical (Hindustani and Carnatic), Ghazal, Sufi-Qawwali, spiritual/devotional, and more. The musical library of Art and Artistes has inspired and influenced major western artists like Jimi Hendrix, John Coltrane, The Doors, and most famously, the Beatles (who named Pandit Ravi Shankar as an inspiration), and is featured as the soundtrack for yoga and meditation sessions around the world.
“Indian music has a huge global following, not just amongst Indians, but people across nationalities. The channel ‘WAAH!!’ curated and marketed in partnership with Jungo TV will greatly enhance the reach and penetration of Indian music to a whole new level. We are extremely honored to be a part of this,” said Durga Jasraj, founder of Art And Artistes and daughter of the legendary vocalist Pandit Jasraj.
The channel is set to launch in India in Q1 2020, with rollouts to other regions, including the Americas and Southeast Asia, starting Q2 2020.
“Waah” is the Indian word for “wow” and is used to express appreciation and praise, especially by music lovers at live music performances.
Jungo TV recently partnered with Verizon Media to power the ultimate brand safe ad network with carriage partners including NXT-IMCL, a Hinduja company in India; GMA in the Philippines; and the Roku Channel, Samsung TV Plus, and XUMO in the United States.
