Chaska’s samosa campaign benefits Trillium Health Partners

Indian food chain raises $3,000 for hospital in memory of Sarla Seth

A month-long fundraiser cooked up by Chaska will benefit patients at Trillium Health Partners – Credit Valley Hospital, Mississauga Hospital and Queensway Health Centre – one of the largest community-based, academically affiliated, acute care facilities in Canada.

The Indian street food chain raised funds for the hospital through the sale of its popular samosas at its three locations in the GTA for the month of October. Chaska will present Trillium Health Partners Foundation a donation of $3,000, in memory of Sarla Seth.

“We’re honoured to support a hospital that touches the lives of so many people,” says Chaska CEO Naveen Seth. “We’re always looking for ways to get involved in our community and this fundraiser allowed us to have an impact through Trillium Health Partners.”

The fundraiser was held in memory of Seth family matriarch Sarla Seth, a passionate cook whose personal recipe for samosas lives on at the restaurant. While samosas are a staple on menus at Indian restaurants across Canada, they can often be somewhat bland and flavourless. Chaska has earned rave reviews for its trademark samosas because of Sarla’s authentic recipe and cooking technique.

Trillium Health Partners is important to the Seth family because Sarla received care at Credit Valley Hospital before she passed away on March 3, 2019. Seth spent a lot of time with his mother at the hospital. Even though his mother was going through various cancer treatments, she always made sure staff were well fed.

“We wanted to do something special in my mother’s memory to show our appreciation to staff at the hospital for providing her such excellent care,” said Seth. “We’re proud that this campaign will help the hospital continue to care for patients in such a compassionate way.”
