Nearly 40 new cars and trucks unveiled @ CIAS 2020!

Media Preview Day at the 2020 Canadian International AutoShow featured the unveiling or debut of nearly 40 new cars and trucks that will be hitting Canadian showrooms later this year or concepts that are inspiring the next generation of the automobile.

“There is a lot of excitement generated at Media Preview Day that sets the pace for the opening of the Canadian International AutoShow,” says AutoShow General Manager Jason Campbell. “We have an incredible lineup of cars, trucks, SUVs and concepts in this year’s show, and are witnessing the dawn of the future with more electric vehicles than ever and new technology that is changing our relationship with our vehicles.”

The keynote address during the opening ceremony was delivered by Larry Hutchinson, President and CEO of Toyota Canada, who discussed the growth and benefits of electric vehicles in the Canadian market.

“At a time when some people question the value of auto shows, I think they’re more beneficial than ever,” said Hutchinson. “They offer a first-hand opportunity for Canadians to learn about… and even test drive… new technologies. And get a peek into the future of mobility — on our roads and on the race track. Pushing the envelope, and driving toward a cleaner, more sustainable future. And reconnecting Canadians with the passion and sense of adventure that a truly great automobile can deliver.”

This year, the Jaguar I-PACE is the first to win an AJAC top category award two years in row, once again named the Canadian Utility Vehicle of the Year during the annual presentation that kicks off Media Preview Day at the Canadian International AutoShow. The Mazda 3 was named AJAC Canadian Car of the Year.

“The Jaguar I-PACE is the best car we have ever built,” said Jon Lindo, Director of Public Relations and Marketing with Jaguar Land Rover Canada, upon receiving the award. “It is truly a technological marvel.”

The Media Preview day concluded with a special reception in the ever-popular Auto Exotica (100 Level, North Building at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre) where the FELINO cB7R— the only Canadian-made supercar currently in production — made its first appearance in Ontario and the Pininfarina Battista, presented by Pfaff Automotive, made its Canadian debut.

The Canadian International AutoShow takes place February 14th to 23rd, 2020, at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. For more information or to buy tickets, please visit autoshow.ca.
