Celebrations for International Day of Yoga – virtual sessions from home!

Yoga is a 5,000-year-old tradition from India that combines physical, mental and spiritual pursuits to achieve harmony of the body and mind. On December 11 in 2014, the United Nations General Assembly declared June 21st as the International Day of Yoga. The declaration came at the behest of the Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi during his address to UN General Assembly.

To celebrate this invaluable heritage and on occasion of the 6th International Day of Yoga, Consulate General of India, Toronto along with High Commission of India in Ottawa and Consulate General of India, Vancouver is collaborating with prestigious Yoga Institutions across Canada to host virtual sessions of ‘Yoga from Home’ through Social Media. The Yoga sessions will cover a range of topics including building immunity, Yoga for the mind, breathing techniques etc.

The schedule of these sessions as well as some more resources for Yoga practice can be found at  www.cgitoronto.gov.in.
