Mercy for Animals has released its newest animated video narrated by seven acclaimed actors and inspiring animal rights activists including Bollywood star Mallika Sherawat (Booo: Sabki Phategi, Khwahish). Other narrators include Claire Cooper (Hollyoaks, Nightfall), Jaason Simmons (Baywatch Nowhere), Ivanna Sakhno (High Fidelity, The Spy Who Dumped Me), Danny Hatchard (EastEnders, Our Girl), Emmett J. Scanlan (Peaky Blinders, Gangs of London) and Stephanie Corneliussen (Mr. Robot, Legion).
The two-minute video walks viewers through an animated description of the life of a chicken raised for meat each week of his or her short life. The video has garnered over 50,000 views across social media in less than a week. You can see social media posts from our celebrity narrators here: Mallika Sherawat, Stephanie Corneliussen, Emmett J. Scanlan, Claire Cooper, and Danny Hatchard.
Mercy For Animals has worked with celebrities to raise awareness about the lives of chickens raised for meat in the past as well. Last year, 25 high profile actors and activists including Alison Pill, Daniella Monet, James Cromwell, Kimberly Elise, Matt Lauria, and Emily Deschanel called on McDonald’s to address some of the worst forms of cruelty in its supply chain in a PSA published by NowThis.
