Dhanush & Vijay Sethupathi win National Film Awards

The Jury for the 67th National Film Awards announced the winners for the year 2019 in New Delhi, India.

The ceremony bestowed honors on films and artists for the year 2019. The awards were initially going to be held in May last year but were delayed indefinitely due to the coronavirus pandemic. The awards are given out by the Directorate of Film Festivals, an organization that comes under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

461 feature films and 220 non-feature films came through the juries, announced the panel.

Dhanush (for Asuran) shares Best Actor award with Manoj Bajpayee(for Bhonsle).

An Engineered Dream, a hindi film has bagged the award for Best Non-Feature Film and Kastoori has been awarded Best Children’s Film award. Shrikshetra- Ru-Sahijata has won the best Arts and Culture Film.

In the Best Feature Film category, Malayalam movie ‘Biriyaani’ starring Kani Kusruti gets a special mention. Vetrimaaran’s ‘Asuran’ starring Dhanush wins Best Tamil Feature Film while Sushant Singh Rajput’s ‘Chhichhore’ wins Best Feature Film in Hindi. 

The Best Feature Film goes to Priyadarshan’s much-awaited Mohanlal-starrer ‘Marakkar Arabikadalinte Simham’. 

Pallavi Joshi won the Best Supporting Actress for ‘The Tashkent Files’ while Vijay Sethupathi won Best Supporting Actor for ‘Super Deluxe’.
