City of Brampton participates in the Longest Night to raise funds for United Way

Mayor Patrick Brown, CounciLast night, the City of Brampton took part in the Longest Night, an annual event that encourages individuals and families to spend one night in their car to raise awareness of the daily challenges faced by children and adults living in poverty. Ten individuals, including team members from across the organization and their family members braved the elements in this humbling experience.

City of Brampton staff and supporters raised over $5,000 in support of this initiative that will go towards the City’s annual United Way fundraising campaign. The City of Brampton has been a proud supporter of United Way for over 40 years and have successfully raised nearly $2.5 million in funds during that time that go directly towards supporting the community.

“I’m so proud of the team members who have stepped up to take on this challenge and participate in the Longest Night to raise awareness of poverty and homelessness, which is a reality for many in our community. We are proud to partner with the United Way each year to raise valuable funds that go directly to supporting those that need it most, now more than ever. Thank you to United Way for being such a valuable resource for Brampton.”Patrick Brown, Mayor, City of Brampton

“Participating in the Longest Night was truly a humbling experience that provided a glimpse into the reality that so many in our community face every night.
